CARBS: How much you need in a dayPosted by Nweke Ada

Carbohydrates are the sugars, starches, and fibers found in fruits, grains, and vegetables. They are usually found in wide arrays of healthy and unhealthy foods e.g bread, potato, beans, popcorn. Most of us consume carbs in great amount on a daily basis. I cannot determine if carbs are good for your body or if it is bad. What I know is that the human body is different.

Carbohydrates usually contain starches, sugars, and fiber. If you are part of those individuals that are confused about carbohydrates, bear in mind that it’s more important to eat carbohydrates from healthy foods than to follow a strict diet limiting or counting the number of grams of carbohydrates consumed.

Healthy sources of carbohydrates include:

● grains

● vegetable

● beans

Unhealthy sources of carbohydrates include:

● pastries

● white bread

● soda

Tips on adding healthy carbs to your daily meals.

-    Eating whole grain

-    Fruit instead of juice

-    Adding oats to daily food.

Restricting carbs can often (at least partly) reverse obesity.  However, this does not mean that the carbs were what caused the obesity in the first instance. We are to ensure we deliberately cut down the consumption of unhealthy carbs. Remember that you are what you eat.
